One Proud Dad!!! (Willow Creek Taxidermy)
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:15:43 AM »

My daughter Alyssa has been working with me in the shop for the last 1 ½ years so she could learn how to mount birds.  She picked up on it rather quick and really likes bird taxidermy.  She says it’s her passion now.

She decided to compete in the Oregon State Taxidermy Show this last weekend.  When she told me she wanted to mount a Mandarin Drake for the show, I had my reservations because they are an extremely hard bird to mount and get it right.  Of course she didn’t listen to me and had her mind set, so she mounted this Mandarin Drake and entered it.  During the awards banquet I was speechless.  She won the Ducks Unlimited “Best Waterfowl in show” award, and then a few minutes later they called her up to the podium again to receive the prestigious “Taxidermist Choice Best Bird in show award”.

Needless to say I’m very proud of her!............John

ABsolutely beautiful mount!  Great job to the daughter and to you Dad being the Teacher!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

That is a beauty, you have every right to puff up your chest and be proud, way to go.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Every father should remember that one day his children will follow his example instead of his advice.

That's fantastic John! Nothing better than your children having a passion for something that you have had a hand in. I'm sure there are not enough words to say how proud you are of her and her work. Congrats to the both of you!! What's her age? Adult or student?
We give your trophy that final compliment!
